Web Design Web Design

Having a Web presence has become a priority for most businesses. In Canada, more than 70% of the population have access to Internet (Ipsos-Reid). Potential clients now expect your company to have a presence on the Net.

The brochure-type sites are long gone. Web surfers now want to see interactivity, rich content. They want to subscribe to a newsletter, or see a video of your product/service. Users want to be surprised with your good-looking Web site, but at the same time they want to find what they need easily.

Neural Communications develops and maintains Web sites ranging from a few pages to large sites with hundreds of pages and complex applications. Some are plain, text-based sites, while others are fully Flash-based. From not-for-profit associations to business consulting companies, from a sky academy to a photography studio, Neural’s experience with a variety of organizations helps us think outside the box and create a Web site that is uniquely yours.

Our Process

Neural has developed a personalized process for Web design / development in order to complete projects according to your specifications, on time and on budget. This process provides a clear understanding of what will happen, who is responsible for each stage of the process, and when the most critical points will occur.

Award Winning Design - that's Usable!

Great design and usability can go a long way together. Neural Communication's sites have won a American Design Award and appeared on CoolHomePages.com Web site. At the same time, Neural's professionals are members of the Usability Professionals Association. We take pride in delivering sites that follow leading edge usability best practices.

To make sure your Web site is really usable, it's always a good idea to complete a usability test to validate the objectives of the Web site. Read our usability section for more details.

What does your audience really want to see?

It's always a good idea to hear from your users before starting a Web site project, especially if it's an Intranet (for staff) or an Extranet (a password-protected site for clients). This dialogue can help ensure that users are able to find the information they'd be looking for. Don't make the mistake of organizing your Web site the way your company is organized or by assuming you know what your users are looking for.

Neural Communications uses techniques that will enable you to understand what your audience is looking for BEFORE you start developing anything:

  • Focus Groups
  • Card sorting (used to define information architecture and labelling)
  • User requirements gathering techniques

Keeping content fresh

Congratulations! Your Web site is up and running, you've promoted it both online and offline, and now what?

Now it's time to keep it fresh. You must have content that will make users/potential clients come back to your site - give them a reason to do so.

Neural can not only help you plan how to keep your site fresh - by adding a "news" section, or by creating a newsletter - but also by doing the maintenance work for you. Neural will create a password-protected QA (quality assurance) environment so you can see all your changes before they go live.

Take control of your content

Do you have lots of updates, frequently? Do you have staff who can manage the content of your Web site, but lack technical skills?

If so, the best approach is to use a CMS (Content Management System). A CMS is an online application that allows a person with minimal technical skills to publish content in a complex Web site - and it's as easy as creating a MS Word document.

Just let Neural know, and we'll design a system that meets your needs.
